I’m so excited to finally introduce you to Flora Fields, the newest quilt pattern from Heck Yes Sew Co. This design has been blooming for a while now, and I’m thrilled to finally share it with you!

Inspiration Behind Flora Fields

Flora Fields is a fresh take on two Heck Yes Sew Co favorites, Florally and Bloom & Glow, brought together in a new pattern inspired by strolling through a field of wildflowers. You may recognize the petal shapes from Florally and the star shapes from Bloom & Glow; I just love how the same quilt blocks can be rearranged in so many different ways to create unique designs.

Inspired by wide open meadows dotted with wildflowers, Flora Fields brings together gentle curves and lots of color! It’s approachable for quilters who have sewn curves before or those who want to grow their skills. If you're new to sewing curves, you'll get so much practice with this one, that you'll be a pro by the end! *wink*

All the Details of this Modern Flower Quilt Pattern

Here’s what you can expect with the Flora Fields Pattern:

Skill Level: Intermediate. Made with orange peels and quarter circle curves, this pattern is approachable for an intermediate quilter who has sewn curves before or a confident beginner who would like to grow their curve sewing skills. The templates include lots of trimming room, which is forgiving if you're still new at curves. You'll also get fabric labels and cutting diagrams to help make cutting and keeping track of your pieces and blocks a breeze!
Sizes: Flora Fields comes in four versatile sizes: Mini (24" x 24"), Baby (38" x 47"), Throw (60" x 73"), and Bed (104" x 97"). No matter the project you have in mind, there’s a size to suit your needs!
Techniques: The pattern uses traditionally pieced common curves shapes to create a fresh and modern flower design.
Templates: The pattern includes paper templates or you can purchase a set of acrylic templates from Cut Once Quilts. More on that below!

Flora Fields Acrylic Template Set

I'm so very excited to have partnered with Cut Once Quilts to make acrylic templates for Flora Fields!

The acrylic templates are optional as the pattern includes paper templates, but they are sturdy and come in so handy when cutting all of the curved pieces in the pattern!

When cutting lots of curved pieces I like to fold my width of fabric WOF strip multiple times so I can cut lots of curved pieces at the same time and these templates make it so easy to do that! They're a real time saver, especially since you can skip the step of cutting out the paper templates!

The templates can be used for some past Heck Yes Sew Co patterns (orange peel “petal” shapes in Florally lap and baby sizes) and were also designed to be used with future patterns (2 future patterns will also use this set)! You'll also be able to make standard 3", 4", and 5" (finished) orange peels and 3" (finished) quarter circles, so in theory you should be able to use them in other curvy patterns by other designers if the finishing measurements are the same. Yay for multi-use!!

Colorways & Color Inspiration

Flora fields includes 3 color ways! I love playing with ombre gradients in the cover version, use lots of colors in the mix and match fat quarter friendly version, and keep is simple in the two-tone version. Whatever your style is, there's a colorway for you!
