Quilting book titled "Cozy Quilts" on table with thread, beads, scissors, and teal fabric pieces, creating a warm crafting vibe.

One of my favorite things about quilting is how a project can hold a moment in time. Certain colors, shapes, and textures instantly bring back a season, a feeling, or a place. That’s exactly what Cozy Quilts for the Modern Home by my friend Abby Luchsinger of AbbyMaed does so beautifully — it captures the rhythm of the year through quilts that feel both modern, cozy, and comforting.

Quilt patterns on a wooden table with a book opened to a page titled "Winter." Wooden beads are arranged nearby, creating a cozy mood.

The book is thoughtfully organized around the seasons, with patterns that reflect the subtle shifts in light, color, and mood that come with each one. From lighter, playful designs to deeper, cozier makes, the collection feels cohesive while still offering so much variety. Each pattern stands on its own, yet together they tell a really lovely story of home and time passing.

I chose to make the Woodsy quilt, which lives in the Winter section of the book. I have a new baby niece whose parents are very outdoorsy and into hiking in the woods, so I was beyond excited to find this pattern in the book, it was perfect! I really love how Abby made hers with an ombre vibe, it served as great inspiration for my own.

One thing I really appreciate about this book is how clear and approachable the patterns are. I've made many of Abby's quilt patterns before, and she is an incredibly thoughtful designer, and it shows in the way the instructions are written. Everything is well explained and the diagrams and steps are easy to follow. Pair that with the gorgeous photography throughout the book, and it’s truly inspiring to flip through, even when you’re not actively sewing. So many of the quilts and projects (yes! there are projects, too, not just quilts) are on my to-make list!

More than anything, this book feels like Abby. Creative, intentional, and warm. If you enjoy seasonal sewing or love projects that feel at home in a modern space while still being cozy and inviting, this is one you’ll want to spend some time with.

You can find Abby's book, Cozy Quilts for the Modern Home here on her website or at major booksellers.
